Breakfast of Champions
What makes a champion? Sometimes champions are the ones who fought their way to the end of a competition. Often times, champions are the ones who look around to see where help is needed and that’s where they show up. Champions are those who see the needs of others, and instead of saying, “Oh, someone should do something about that,” they take the steps they are capable of making. Champions take the time to come alongside others and serve, rather than be served.
The Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home in Lebanon, IN, is full of champions. Staff members, house parents, governing board members, and youth at the home all work together to give youth a place of safety and learning. The Children’s Home builds structures and invites youth to experience what being part of a family is like.
On October 15, the Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home hosted a Breakfast of Champions for those who have supported the goals and mission of the home. Champions were celebrated and and we heard countless stories of the impact being made by the Children’s Home.
I am so glad this is an event I got to be part of. If you’d like to learn more about the Children’s Champions and the work they are doing, you find out more here: Indiana Children’s Champions
